Questions?

I'm here for you.

Below are answers to my patients’ frequently asked questions. If there is something I’ve missed, please don’t hesitate to ask. For more information, please call or email. I look forward to meeting you soon.

  • How should I prepare for my first treatment?
Please take the time to fill out the initial paperwork online prior to your appointment. If you have trouble filling out the paperwork online, please arrive 10-15 minutes early to your scheduled appointment time and a staff member will gladly assist you. It is recommended to wear loose-fitting clothing for treatments. We have gowns and other draping supplies if needed. It is advised to eat at least 1 hour prior to your appointment. Do not plan to do any rigorous exercise immediately following your appointment.
  • What should I expect during my first appointment?
Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough evaluation of your health history and current health status. Once the evaluation is complete, I will explain what will happen during treatment and my recommended treatment plan. You will receive treatment during your initial appointment. You will be asked to lay or sit in a comfortable position for about 25-30 minutes during treatment. Once treatment is complete, I will answer any additional questions you may have and ask you to pay attention to any changes in your physical or mental state to discuss during your follow up appointment.
  • Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and acupuncture treatments are meant to be relaxing. Most of the time, you may not even feel the needles being inserted. Sometimes you can feel a small pinch upon insertion that eases up after a few seconds. You may feel different sensations throughout treatment including tingling, heaviness or light and lifting, achiness, or deep relaxation. You should not feel any pain or extreme discomfort with my acupuncture treatments. You are encouraged to relax, meditate, breathe deeply, or even sleep during an acupuncture treatment!
  • How many treatments will I need?
Treatment frequency and length vary per person. Each treatment plan is individualized to fit your specific needs. Most commonly, acute injuries or issues can be relieved somewhere between 1-5 treatments. More chronic issues or diseases may take upwards of 20-30+ treatments.
  • Can my child receive acupuncture?
Yes! Acupuncture, when performed by a licensed acupuncturist, is a safe and effective treatment for people of ALL ages, including babies and children.
  • Can I receive acupuncture while pregnant?
Yes! Acupuncture, when performed by a licensed acupuncturist, is safe and effective during pregnancy. Most women utilize acupuncture treatments during pregnancy for nausea/morning sickness, heartburn, back pain, and stress. Acupuncture has also been effective in helping turn a breech presentation and promoting labor when ready.
  • Do you accept my insurance?
We are considered an out of network provider. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company to understand your out of network acupuncture benefits. We can provide you with a superbill containing the information needed to submit a claim for reimbursement, but we do not handle insurance directly. Payment is due at time of service. * Acupuncture treatments are considered medical services and are tax deductible.
